Ferrari seems to have solved problem, for Red Bull it was not needed

Today's Formula 1 cars are very sensitive to a change in conditions, such as wind. Last season, this proved a point of weakness for Ferrari in particular. The Italian racing stable now seems to have solved this problem.

Now that the test days are over, the teams reflect on the developments of their cars. One of the points where Ferrari's car did not yet anticipate well was the wind. When the wind picked up or changed direction the car completely lost its balance. At the International Circuit in Bahrain, the wind often blows. This is partly because the circuit is located in the desert. The wind could therefore play a role in the race.

Ferrari takes a step forward

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc says his team has taken steps forward in terms of wind sensitivity. ''Oh, on our side it's a lot better. I mean, I think one of the biggest weaknesses of last year's car was wind sensitivity. If the wind changed just a little bit, it was extremely difficult to drive our car. Huge differences in balance between corners. This year we are much better at that, so that is definitely a step forward. When we want something, we work hard at it and we had the confirmation from the first days. That was it.''

For Red Bull, no development was needed

At Red Bull Racing, wind sensitivity seemed to be in better shape last season. Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen says that on that front, therefore, the team did not change much either. ''I mean, I didn't feel a huge difference from last year, but these cars are sensitive to wind and especially on a track like this the wind can affect your balance quite a lot. Braking coming into Turn 1, braking coming out of Turn 1, that combination with Turn 2 is always tricky, when you have wind at your back there, it's never easy, but also in the infield. But yeah, it felt about the same as last year, I would say.''
