Arsenal legend Ian Wright has shown his love for the Gunners by making an offer to the club. Mikel Arteta’s side secured an important win over Newcastle United on Saturday to keep themselves in Premier League title contention.

The 4-1 victory ensured that Arsenal remained two points behind league leaders Liverpool, while also keeping pace with Manchester City in second. Arsenal have been in formidable form since the turn of the year, winning six consecutive league games.

The Gunners have been free-scoring during that run, scoring 25 goals. This was highlighted by Match of the Day and prompted Ian Wright to demonstrate his adoration of the club.

When asked by Gary Lineker about Arsenal’s recent results, Wright replied, “It is looking good, hopefully, we’re learning from last season. We’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing.”

Fellow pundit Micah Richards wondered whether Wright believed Arsenal could win the title: “Yes, otherwise, what are we doing here? We have to think that we can win it. Otherwise what are we doing?” the Arsenal icon asked. “We’re scoring goals left, right and centre.“

Lineker picked up on Wright’s use of ‘we’, much to the amusement of the Match of the Day trio: “Arsenal, sorry, yeah,” Wright said. However, the former striker revealed that he would welcome a return to the Gunners, should Arteta need more attacking options.

He added: “I’m still there. I’m still there and available if they need me. I’m there!”

While Arsenal will not be taking Wright up on his offer, the pundit was part of the team that won the title in 1998 and his belief should increase confidence around the current squad. Wright was previously the club’s all-time goalscorer before being overtaken by Thierry Henry, scoring 185 goals in 288 games for Arsenal.
