Real Madrid's Carlo Ancelotti eager for Champions League return

Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, is gearing up for a triumphant return to the Champions League. As the La Liga leaders prepare to face RB Leipzig in the last 16 clash, the coach expressed his desire for the coveted trophy.

With a remarkable four-time conquest of the UEFA Champions League, Ancelotti stands as the tournament's most successful head coach, culminating in a historic victory over Liverpool in 2022. Reflecting on his passion for the game and the squad at his disposal, Ancelotti affirmed, "I like what I do and where I do it."

Real Madrid's journey this season has been nothing short of impressive, currently topping La Liga by five points and navigating the UCL group stage with ease. Ancelotti, however, remains humble, acknowledging the challenges posed by injuries to key players. "So far so good, despite everything we've been through," he noted, highlighting the team's spirit in the face of adversity.

As the squad evolves, Ancelotti orchestrates a seamless transition, gracefully ushering in a new generation of talent. The departure of legends like Luka Modric and the increasing role of emerging stars like Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham mark a natural progression for the club. Addressing the stellar performance of veteran midfielder Toni Kroos, Ancelotti acknowledged the enduring quality of the player who has won four Champions Leagues with Real. 

"It's hard to say it's the best season because it's always the best," he quipped. Kroos's ability to harness the energy of the young players and maintain a consistent passing percentage over the years exemplifies his enduring skills.

Commenting on the upcoming tournament, Midfielder Toni Kroos said, "I don't know if we are the favourites, but we are in a good position to win the title."

"But as we've seen in previous years, a bad day is enough to be booted out. It's a difficult title to win."

Real Madrid's quest for Champions League glory resumes against RB Leipzig, a formidable opponent. 

Ancelotti, undeterred by the challenges ahead, said, "We are going to compete, and we start against Leipzig, who are a tough and strong rival."
