Latest Derby County news from Derbyshire Live brings you what the Bolton boss has said regarding the chase for automatic promotion

Ian Evatt said Derby County's thrilling 2-2 draw at Portsmouth was "not the worst result" for his Bolton side in their chase for automatic promotion.

The Rams moved four points clear of Wanderers in the race for second place at Fratton Park where Paul Warne's side were denied a win by Owen Moxon's stunner following an excellent performance against John Mousinho's side. Bolton were interested observers in events on Tuesday night given their pursuit of Derby and can close the gap to the Rams to just one point with a win at Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

Derby can guarantee promotion by winning their last four games which are against Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Cambridge and Carlisle while Bolton face challenging assignments against Peterborough and Portsmouth in their own run-in.

Speaking ahead of Bolton's trip to face Matt Taylor's Rovers side, Evatt says all they can do is try to put pressure on where they can.

“It wasn’t the worst [result],” Evatt said. "What it does is it takes a result off the table. If we – and the most important thing is that we do our job – win the remaining games, then it means they have to win all their remaining games as well.

“It’s a big if, but for us, it’s just making sure that we ask the right questions of the ones above us and we can only do that by winning games. It’s tough to win consistently at this level, in this division, and we have to find our best form now."
