Unai Emery and his backroom staff will be doing work behind the scenes to try and bring players to Villa Park before the January 31 deadline. Villa continue to be linked with players, although no deal is thought to be close yet. Speaking about transfers in his pre-Middlesbrough press conference, Emery hinted that Villa could find it hard to find the right player in the January window.
"I am thinking not a lot about it because maybe one or two players could leave, maybe but it's not clear," he said. "If we are trying to get someone it is really because we are very convinced he is going to increase our level in the squad. It is not very clear in the January window to get it."

Villa currently sit in second place in the Premier League as they push to play Champions League football next season. After a break for the FA Cup they return to league action on Sunday when they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
