Aston Villa will play their final Europa Conference League group stage game against Bosnian outfit HSK Zrinjski this evening.

Unai Emery’s men currently sit top of the four-team table, three points ahead of Legia Warsaw after their 2-1 victory over the Poles in their last qualification fixture. Goals from Moussa Diaby and Alex Moreno put Villa through to the knock-out stages.

However, while Villa are sure to progress, if they are to avoid a potentially tricky play-off with a team dropping into the competition from the Europa League they must match the result Warsaw achieve against AZ Alkmaar.

Group winners go straight through to the last 16 – the eight runners up must face a play-off. Zrinjski are currently bottom of the group with only three points. Villa beat them 1-0 when the sides met in B6 in October.

Team news

Emery has hinted he will make a number of changes to the team which beat Arsenal last weekend. "Firstly, we want to respect the competition and then respect Zrinjski as well," Emery said in his pre-match press conference.

"We also want to play competitively and try to increase, individually and collectively, our process as a team. We are here with the players who are available to play. I’m going to share as well because some players can feel tired, and I will decide tomorrow morning, but my idea at the beginning is try to play being competitive.

"With players playing regularly and with another maybe who is not playing a lot of minutes, I want to try to build and try to create a strong structure in our squad. Tomorrow is a very good opportunity for someone to try to play and get minutes, get confidence and prepare for this season in different competitions being very competitive, like we are doing at the moment."
