Every Aston Villa and Man United player should be 'ashamed' after bore draw
Dimitar Berbatov, the former Manchester United attacker, didn't hold back in his assessment of the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa
by Joseph Chapman, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/joseph-chapman/ · Birmingham LiveFormer Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov says that 'everybody on the pitch should be ashamed' after the Red Devils drew 0-0 with Aston Villa in a dull draw which saw United veteran defender Jonny Evans be awarded the man of the match award.
Former Liverpool defender and pundit Jamie Carragher awarded Evans the gong for a sturdy display at the heart of the visitors' defence, on a day in which cutting edge chances were at a premium both sides. The points were ultimately shared and clean sheets earned by both defences, ahead of the forthcoming international break.
That Evans, 36, was even in the mix for the award perhaps said plenty about how the game played out and how little attacking quality was on show. Berbatov, who played with Evans during his days at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, didn't hold back in his assessment of the performance levels.

"I am trying to find the right words," Berbatov told Sky Sports. "Everybody on the pitch today should be ashamed because Jonny Evans - and credit to him, he's 36, 37 - was man of the match. Everybody should take notice and next time do better. Other than that, the best highlight is in the 93rd minute and the [Philogene] chance.
"The criticism [for Erik ten Hag] will grow. The only way to correct it is by getting points. They're 14th in the table and the way they're playing at the moment, it'll be hard to do."
