Tottenham's next five fixtures compared to Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in top four race

Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to London rivals West Ham United on Thursday evening, a devasting result in their hopes of securing UEFA Champions League football

Tottenham Hotspur endured yet another defeat on Monday night. Ange Postecoglour's side were defeated 2-1 by London rivals West Ham United in the Premier League, meaning the Lillywhites have now accumulated just one point from their last five league outings.

That leaves Spurs fifth in the current standings, only above Manchester United on goal difference. The north London outfit will be hoping to immediately bounce back as they look to secure a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.

With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look at Tottenham's next five fixtures and compared them to their rivals.

Newcastle United (H) - Premier League - December 10, 4.30pm

A proper top-four battle here. Newcastle have seen off Chelsea and Man United despite a lot of fitness issues. Eddie Howe's men will have played the same night as Spurs leading into this, away to Everton, but have struggled largely this year to cope after mid-week matches.

These are two teams who aren't going to back down and should be truly entertaining.

Nottingham Forest (A) - Premier League - December 15, 8pm

A slightly nicer fixture to follow a tough run and it's to the City Ground for a Friday night meeting with Nottingham Forest. There's only a small gap between games here, which will test Postecoglou, but compared to what has come before it looks relatively comfortable on paper.

Forest are 15th after 14 games and have won just once in their last six. The City Ground was pivotal to the Reds staying up last season but Saturday's loss to Everton has placed further doubts over Steve Cooper's future.

Everton (H) - Premier League - December 23, 3pm

Tottenham's last game before Christmas comes at home to aggrieved Everton. The Toffees have been plunged into the relegation zone following a points deduction from the Premier League which is riling up their fanbase, who are trying to channel any emotion positively toward the team.

Sean Dyche's men are now only two points from safety after defeating Nottingham Forest.

Brighton (A) - Premier League - December 28, 7.30pm

Spurs will get a somewhat welcome break inbetween games this Christmas with their Boxing Day trip to Brighton rescheduled to take place on the 28th. The Seagulls currently sit eighth in the table after losing to Chelsea, though they have put in some good displays against the league's top teams.

It is another difficult game for Postecoglou's men ahead of the turn of the year.

Bournemouth (H) - Premier League - December 31, 2pm

The Lillywhites are then in action on New Year's Eve, taking on Bournemouth in north London. Goals from James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski secured Spurs a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in August.

Postecoglou and Co will be hoping for a similar result later this month.
