Arsenal sent Man City warning as Gary Neville issues fresh Premier League title verdict
Arsenal currently sit six points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League table after their 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening
by Sam Hill · football.londonGary Neville has warned Arsenal that Manchester City will be feeling confident in the title race despite currently being sat fifth in the Premier League table. The Gunners currently hold a six-point advantage over the reigning champions - but Pep Guardiola's side have played one game less.
Arsenal maintained their place at the top of the Premier League table with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. The Gunners will be top of the table at Christmas for the second season in a row, but Mikel Arteta will be hoping his side can go on and win the title after finishing as runners-up last term.
"For Manchester City, they have been below par, let's be clear," Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast. "I won't use the word complacent, but they've been below par by their standards.
"But I think if they're going into February in a position where they're neck and neck with these teams [Arsenal and Liverpool], and these teams haven't stepped up a level, they'll feel really confident because that sort of know-how of running down the final straight with that power in attack in Erling Haaland. If Kevin De Bruyne comes back as well, he can be a difference maker."
Jamie Carragher agreed with Neville and believes the results this week have been fantastic for City after the Club World Cup success. "I think this last week has been fantastic for City," Carragher said.
"There was talk that they could be 12 points behind Liverpool by the next time they play Everton in the Premier League, but Liverpool have dropped four points now. So it puts City in a great position.

"If they [City] get back to anything near their best and they're within touching distance, I think they go on and win the title," Carragher added. Arsenal have already beaten City at the Emirates Stadium this season, but they need to maintain their good form and keep picking up wins if they are to keep Guardiola's side at arm's length.
