Manchester United drew 2-2 with Tottenham in their first Premier League game of 2024, with Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford both getting on the scoresheet for the Red Devils.

The result leaves United seventh in the table, eight points off the top four, and the game was particularly notable as Sir Jim Ratcliffe was in attendance for the first time since purchasing a 25 per cent stake in the club.

Meanwhile, United are yet to make any new signings this month although rumours continue to swirl about potential incomings.

With all that in mind, Mirror Football has taken a look at the latest transfer news coming out of Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe expects full control next month

Speaking ahead of United's draw with Tottenham, Ratcliffe spoke to the media and revealed he expects to have full control of the sporting side of the club by early February.

His £1.3billion investment has not yet been ratified by the Premier League, meaning he cannot make any decisions during the January transfer window. Asked when he expects the deal to be ratified, Ratcliffe replied: "Early to mid February. Hopefully they don't find anything dodgy on the CV!

"I have done a few exciting things, but this caps it all. There's no question about that. It's taken a few years and it's taken a few turns, as you know, but these things take some doing."

Following Jadon Sancho's return to Borussia Dortmund on loan, Ten Hag has described the winger's time at Old Trafford as "not a success".

"After he was signed, one year before (I arrived), there were issues," Ten Hag told Sky Sports. "We've had issues all the way through (Sancho's time at United). So you can make out that his stay here at Manchester United, so far, is not a success.

"So now he's going back to Borussia Dortmund and I wish him the best of luck. I hope, we hope, that he does very well there and he will be successful. Then we will see what's going to happen."

Granada have confirmed that Alvaro Fernandez has been recalled by United, with the left-back now expected to join Benfica.

The Manchester Evening News state that Fernandez will initially join Benfica on loan for the rest of the season, but the Portuguese club will have an option to make the deal permanent over the summer.

Following his recall, Fernandez wrote on Instagram : "My stay in Granada was special, but not as long as we hoped. It was a real pleasure to represent this club and I will always be grateful to the fans and the club in general, but above all to the people who spend day to day with me taking care of me and supporting me since day one."
