A light-heavyweight world title fight takes place in Canada tonight as Liverpool's Callum Smith looks to hand defending champion Artur Beterbiev the first loss of his career

by · The Mirror

Artur Beterbiev can secure himself an undisputed light-heavyweight world title fight tonight if he gets past Callum Smith.

Beterbiev has won all 19 of his professional fights by stoppage as he looks to continue his unbeaten streak in front of a home crowd tonight in Quebec City, Canada. A win against Smith would set up a highly-anticipated fight against Bivol, who currently holds the only belt at 175lb that Beterbiev doesn't have.

Smith is back in the ring for the first time in over a year as the Scouser hasn't fought since knocking out Mathieu Bauderlique on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. 'Mundo' can take Beterbiev's place in his undisputed plans tonight by snatching his belts to become a two-time world champion. So here's all you need to know about the fight...

What time is Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Smith on tonight in the UK?

Beterbiev: “I’m happy to box in Quebec, people are very interested in sport here. I’m excited for every fight and for this fight we have tried to prepare like we usually do, which is at 100 percent. I’m as revved up for this one as I am for all my fights. Our prep? The usual, all in. No holding back. I’ve got my game face on for this tussle."

Smith: “I think it’s going to be exciting. Artur is a very good fighter, a three-belt champion so his achievements speak for themselves. I have always believed in myself and I think the best version of myself beats anyone in the world. I have improved a lot under Buddy [McGirt]. I am being presented with an opportunity to be a two-time world champion and it’s one I plan on taking.”
