Newsboy’s horseracing tips for Monday’s five meetings, including Ffos Las Nap
Newsboy fancies his nap, Pilgrims King, to reign supreme at Ffos Las and also hopes Forceful Speed can score at Pontefract and complete his Daily Double
by David Yates · The MirrorPILGRIMS KING (2.42, Nap) is fancied to enjoy a quickfire Ffos Las double on Monday afternoon having won over course and distance last week.
The consistent eight-year-old, trained by Peter Bowen has not been out of the first three in his last five races – and not out of the top two in his last four.
Last time out he looked better than ever in winning on this course by one and three-quarter lengths from Thatza Dazzler.
Despite making a mistake early on, the son of Sholokhov made good headway under today's jockey Sean Bowen before staying on well after the last to win going away.
He has a 7lb penalty to contend with but a similar display should make him hard to thwart in the DragonBet On-Course Values Online Handicap Chase, where he really only has the likely favourite, Bonza Boy, to beat.
At Pontefract, FORCEFUL SPEED (2.52) can land the RIU Hotels And Resorts Handicap over a mile and a quarter.
The George Boughey-trained four-year-old completed a hat-trick at Epsom last October and may have found his next race at Leicester coming too soon when he could only finish fourth.
Freshened up after a long break, the son of New Bay could make a winning return under Billy Loughnane.
