ITV Love Island fans have same complaint minutes into the 2024 final
Love Island viewers were quick to have the same complaint on Monday night just minutes into the 2024 final
by Olivia Wheeler · The MirrorLove Island aired its highly-anticipated 2024 final on Monday night but fans had the same complaint.
The current series, hosted by Maya Jama, announced the final four couples on Sunday night as Sean Stone and Matilda Draper, Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan, Ayo Odukoya and Jess Spencer and Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel. On Monday night, the winning couple get to take home an incredible £50,000.
However, viewers were quick to complain minutes into the final as the final episode always go from live footage to the villa's final night in pre-recorded footage. Taking to Twitter, now X, inpatient viewers declared they wanted the results now and not a playback of the final night in the villa, where the Islanders have a meal together and declare speeches.
One person said: "Is it just me or does anyone else find the #LoveIsland final boring until the winner is announced?!", a different account wrote: "This part of the final is always long and boring. #LoveIsland", another put: "Ngl, this last episode is usually pretty boring until the winners are announced #loveIsland" while a different viewer added: "The finals is always boring just let me know who wins #loveisland."
It comes as Love Island was full of drama on Sunday night as Joey Essex and Jessy Potts were dumped from the villa just hours ahead of the final. The Islanders had to vote for two couples who they think are least compatible, texting in their decision.
The couples at risk of being dumped were Joey and Jessy, Ayo and Jess, Sean and Matilda, and Josh and Mimii. On Sunday night, a collection of past Islanders from the 2024 series entered the villa and they held the power to decide which couple should be dumped from the Island. After revealing their choice one-by-one, it was revealed that Joey and Jessy had been dumped.
During the decisions, Joey found himself under fire by several Islanders, who accused him of 'game playing' while ex Samantha Kenny got her revenge as she accused the TOWIE star of 'lying'. Speaking in an exit interview, Joey said of leaving the villa with Jessy: "It feels good to be leaving, I feel like I had an amazing run in there, went through the full cycle of emotions you get in the Villa, and if you have to leave, you might as well go out with a bang…It’s my birthday on Monday so feels like I’m going out at a good time."
He added over the result: "I said during the compatibility vote that I had expected Jessy and I would get votes, so no it didn’t really come as a surprise, and I never expected to win the show." Talking about life after the villa, he claimed: "Visit my friends and family, maybe apologise to a few for keeping it a secret for them, and then crack on with life Joey Essex style."
