Manuel Ugarte set to complete Manchester United transfer after late-night arrival
by Tyrone Marshall · Manchester Evening NewsManuel Ugarte is set to undergo his medical today before finalising his £42.3m transfer to Manchester United, having flown into the city late on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old landed at Manchester Airport just before 10pm last night, flying on a private jet from Paris after United agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain to end their summer-long pursuit. United will pay an initial €50m, with a further €10m in add-ons.
Now he has arrived in Manchester Ugarte is expected to complete the formalities of his move today. The Uruguay international has set his sights on a switch to Old Trafford throughout the summer and he has been United's top target for the holding midfield position.

Ugarte will need to be registered with the Premier League before midday on Friday to be in contention to feature against Liverpool on Sunday, although he hasn't played for Paris Saint-Germain since the Copa America, having been left out of their matchday squad for their first two Ligue 1 fixtures of the season.
United are pleased with the deal they have struck for Ugarte, with PSG holding firm on a demand for a fixed fee of €60m until a fresh round of negotiations late last week.
Ugarte made the Copa America Best XI at this summer's tournament in the United States, which further enhanced United's view of him as one of the best young midfielders in the game.
United had also explored alternative options in midfield, but their interest in Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi cooled quickly while a return for Sofyan Amrabat was always seen as less attractive than signing Ugarte, who impressed for Uruguay in this summer's Copa America.
Although it has taken a while to agree the terms of a deal, key figures in United's new-look football structure had expressed confidence two weeks ago that they would land Ugarte before this Friday's deadline, which is why he had remained their top target for so long.
Ugarte will become the fifth signing of the window and will take the club's spending to over £200m. He follows the additions of Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
