Manchester United will spend Christmas Day in eighth after losing 2-0 to West Ham on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side have not scored in four consecutive games, the club’s worst run since November 1992. United struggled to create openings with Alejandro Garnacho wasting a first half one-on-one chance in their best chance of the game.

Erik ten Hag explains what went wrong vs West Ham

Ten Hag lamented United's profligacy after a third defeat in four games at West Ham. United have won one of their last seven matches and have failed to score in the last four for the first time since November 1992.

Garnacho squandered a one-on-one with West Ham 'keeper Alphonse Areola with the game goalless in the first half and West Ham took the lead through Jarrod Bowen in the 72nd minute.

Shaw gives honest verdict on United performance

Shaw described United's performance against West Ham on Saturday as 'not good enough'.

United wanted to build on their spirited performance against Liverpool last weekend, but they stumbled to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against West Ham after goals from Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.

Although Garnacho wasted a big opportunity in the first half, chances were at a premium and United have now failed to score in four straight games for the first since autumn 1992.
