Paris Olympics 2024 schedule for Wednesday as Team GB’s Kieran Reilly aims for gold at BMX Freestyle Final

Diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and BMX champion Kieran Reilly are amongst the professionals hoping for a gold win for Team GB today

Day five of the Olympics 2024 is now underway with another exciting line-up of sporting events including beach volleyball, handball, basketball and football.

Yesterday (July 30) saw Great Britain win their first gold medal in swimming this year with the Olympic 4x200m freestyle relay. It meant Team GB, which included Bury’s own James Guy, helped retain the title they won in Tokyo three years ago.

The action in Paris on Tuesday also saw Nathan Hales win gold at the men's shooting trap final - putting Great Britain’s medal tally at the end of day four at 12.

Amongst the Team GB athletes hoping to replicate the same success today (July 31) will be diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, who is the daughter of First Dates star Fred Sirieix. She will compete in the 10m synchronised platform final alongside fellow Brit Lois Toulson this morning, aiming for Great Britain's first ever gold medal in the event.

Also hoping to take home the gold will be current BMX World Champion Kieran Reily. The Gateshead cyclist made history back in 2022 when he became the first person to successfully land a 'triple flair' - a special BMX trick consisting of three backflips alongside a 180-degree turn.

He will compete in the Men's Park Final of the Cycling BMX Freestyle this afternoon - set to begin at 1.44pm. He will hope to deliver a gold in the sport after Chorlton cyclist Charlotte Worthington was knocked out of the qualification stage of the Women’s BMX Park event yesterday.
