Sunday workouts: 12 graded-stakes winners are on U.S. tab

Getting the stopwatch test for the first time since his Breeders’ Cup disappointment last month, Grade 1-winning turf specialist Adhamo breezed for trainer Chad Brown on Sunday morning in Florida.

The 5-year-old, Ireland-bred son of Intello was clocked at 50.2 seconds going a half-mile on the dirt at Payson Park.

The winner of the 2022 United Nations (G1) at Monmouth Park, Adhamo finished third this year in both the Arlington Million (G1) and Canadian International (G1). Last out he came in 10th of 11 finishers in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita.

Brown has not said publicly where he may point Adhamo for a next start. The horse is owned by Louis Lazzinnaro, Madaket Stables, Michael Caruso and Michael Dubb.

Adhamo was one of the 12 graded-stakes winners on the U.S. work tab Sunday.

Adhamo (Intello), a Grade 1 winner (2022 United Nations), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Payson Park on Sunday morning. It was the 24th fastest of 35 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 10th in the Breeders’ Cup Turf going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for trainer Chad Brown.

Henley’s Joy (Kitten’s Joy), a Grade 1 winner (2019 Belmont Derby Invitational), worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Churchill Training. It was the second fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic at Woodbine on Oct. 8 for trainer Mike Maker.

Stilleto Boy (Shackleford), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Santa Anita Handicap), worked five furlongs in 1:04.0 at Golden Gate Fields. It was the 45th fastest of 63 works at the distance. His previous work was four days ago going four furlongs at Golden Gate Fields. In his last start he placed ninth in the Awesome Again (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Sept. 30 for trainer Ed Moger Jr.

Can Group (Good Samaritan), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Bourbon), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Palm Meadows. It was the fourth fastest of 23 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 3 for trainer Mark Casse.

Confidence Game (Candy Ride), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Rebel), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Fair Grounds. It was the 17th fastest of 36 works at the distance. His previous work was 13 days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed sixth in an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4 for trainer Keith Desormeaux.

Consumer Spending (More Than Ready), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Wonder Again), worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Payson Park. It was the 10th fastest of 35 works at the distance. Her previous work was 35 days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed ninth in the E.P. Taylor (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Woodbine on Oct. 8 for trainer Chad Brown.

Desert Dawn (Cupid), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Santa Anita Oaks), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Del Mar. It was the third fastest of eight works at the distance. Her previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Del Mar. In her last start she placed fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for trainer Phil D’Amato.

Hot Peppers (Khozan), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Victory Ride), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Los Alamitos. It was the 17th fastest of 27 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Los Alamitos. In her last start she placed fourth in the Prioress (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Sept. 2 for trainer Rudy Rodríguez.

Raise Cain (Violence), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Gotham), worked five furlongs in 1:03.4 at Keeneland. It was the only work at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Perryville going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 21 for trainer Ben Colebrook.

Sibelius (Not This Time), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Mr. Prospector), worked five furlongs in 1:01.9 at Palm Meadows. It was the second fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed fifth in the Phoenix (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 6 for trainer Jeremiah O’Dwyer.

Willy Boi (Uncaptured), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Smile Sprint Invitational), worked three furlongs in 36.3 seconds at Palm Meadows. It was the third fastest of 13 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Nov. 19 for trainer Melanie Giddings.

Zoffarelli (Zoffany), a Grade 3 winner (2021 La Jolla Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the 53rd fastest of 76 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fifth in an allowance race going five furlongs on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 23 for trainer Jeff Mullins.
