Brawl! Team Masvidal and Team Diaz come to blows after latest pre-fight press conference | Video
by Drake Riggs · MMAmania.comThe build to the boxing rematch between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is starting to heat up. We can’t say that’s a huge surprise after the newly revealed $79 price tag for the event next month (Sat., July 6, 2024).
Nonetheless, Masvidal and Diaz are always down for a scrap on the streets if necessary. Apparently, the time came after the pre-fight press conference in Anaheim, California today (Thurs., June 6, 2024).
Members of each team got into a brawl after the verbal jabs stopped being thrown. It’s hard to tell what set off the exchange or which side started it, but Diaz didn’t appear to be directly involved. However, Masvidal can be seen getting moved around in the videos embedded in the player above.
“When it comes down to it, I think I got the best hands in the UFC,” Masvidal said at the presser. “On July 6, I get to prove that. No questions, no nothing. We’re gonna find out. There’s no jiu-jitsu s—t, none of that hugging s—t. It’s just straight hands and what better way to find out who’s got the better hands?”
“Aren’t you a martial artist, motherf—ker?” Diaz responded. “Jiu-jitsu s—t? F—k you talking about? Yeah, b—ch, you’re boxing n—ga. Who finished me on a f—king — ever, anyway? Funeral, funeral. Shut the f—k up. The f—k you gonna do? Been talking s—t for months.”
“Too bad you can’t do that (choke) in boxing,” Masvidal fired back. “You had 15 minutes to do it in MMA and all you did was get saved by the referee so don’t talk about choking me because you never outgrappled me in your life and never could you. After this boxing match, we can run it in grappling. I’ll slam you on your neck.”
Masvidal defeated Diaz via a third round doctor’s stoppage technical knockout at UFC 244 in November 2019. The bout was the inaugural Baddest Motherf—ker (BMF) title fight and led Masvidal to his first and only two undisputed Welterweight title opportunities.
