Scottish football pyro survey as fans have their say on fiery topic dividing opinion
It's time for the fans to have their say as talk of pyro turns into a thorny Scottish football topic.
by Ben Banks, https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/authors/ben-banks/ · Daily RecordIt's a topic that is refusing to budge and pyrotechnics will continue to feature near the top of the Scottish football agenda.
Rangers fans' light show away to Dundee earlier this season was the fuse to spark a meting with parties like the SPFL and Police Scotland over how to combat the use of flares within grounds. But they are far from the only set of supporters to use them, and while they are illegal, that hasn't stopped several other ultra groups up and down the divisions from sparking them up.
So it brings about a question - what is the solution with Pyro? Is it a flat-out ban as the authorities would currently like? Or is it the approach some fans have offered, which is to have an adult conversation over alternatives like safe pyro used in Scandinavian nations already?
As part of an upcoming Record Sport feature, we are asking for YOUR opinion on pyro within our game. Your responses will then be used as part of an upcoming look at how supporters view pyrotechnics.
