Celtic's walk in the park against Chelsea in the States has sent one fan over the edge.
Brendan Rodgers' team made light work of the big spending Blues, thumping them 4-1 in South Ben to end their American pre-season tour with a bang. The champions are in a good place heading into flag day next Sunday, when they will kick-off the defence of their Scottish Premiership title at home to Derek McInnes' Kilmarnock.
Chelsea are only two games into their preparations and boss Enzo Maresca was keen to stress that in the aftermath of the heavy defeat. But that will cut little ice with fans, as one absolutely lost the plot, ranting in a social media video to the backdrop of the score and goalscorers. Performative or not, it is quite the display from the punter who was left wondering just what owner Todd Boehly has spent billions on.
He screamed: "it's gonna be a long season! We've just had our pants pulled down in front of the whole world then they gave us a kick in the nuts! We've spent a billion on trash!"
Meanwhile, a Chelsea Fan TV watch-a-long provided an illustration of the progressive stages of misery as two Blues began with bold statements and hopes of doing it for their "Rangers mates" to hailing Brendan Rodgers before glumly accepting that their side was being taught a lesson by the superior Celtic.
They began: "Regardless of pre-season or not, we have to beat Celtic. We have to. Even if it's just for our Rangers mates.
Things only went downhill from kick-off though as the podders became considerably more despondent and the Hoops goals flew in.: "Useless, useless!" came the early shouts before "Oh, it's a Brendan Rodgers masterclass. Look, they;re just pinning us down. This is what we're meant to be doing to teams. They're playing with us.
There was plenty of respect for Rodgers' achievement though, only to be stopped mid flow by another Celtic goal: "He's a good manager. He did a great job a Leicester. He did a fantastic job at Celtic the first time and I think he'll probably-OH MY GOD man...that is absolutely shocking."
That was a theme that only continued as the Bhoys increased their lead: "Oh my god we're s***. Oh my god mate. Jesus...3-0 against Celtic. It's Palmer as well! It's Palmer. They're rubbing it in.
