Partick Thistle are also keen on Oakley but there's one thing the Honest Men can offer than Jags likely can't.

Ayr United have made a move to land George Oakley.

United boss Scott Brown wants to sign the out-of-contract Morton striker. Oakley is also wanted by Championship rivals Partick Thistle and has been offered a new deal by Morton boss Dougie Imrie. The 28-year-old did well for ‘Ton last season and Brown believes he could help to give Ayr more of a cutting edge.

Oakley is currently weighing up his options. The Englishman has a wealth of experience in the Championship with spells at Inverness. Oakley has also turned out for Hamilton and Kilmarnock. Imrie has offered him a deal but looks set to lose another key player. Robbie Muirhead has joined Livingston and Robbie Crawford has already signed a deal with Partick Thistle. Ayr look to be in the driving seat as Oakley would be guaranteed top team action, whilst the Jags have Brian Graham as their main man.
