Gary Neville slams 'embarrassing' Nottingham Forest as Arsenal and Liverpool points made
Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Gary Neville criticises the Reds' as well as Liverpool and Arsenal
by Isaac Seelochan · NottinghamshireLiveGary Neville has criticised "embarrassing" clubs for writing to the Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL).
Nottingham Forest have contacted chief refereeing officer Howard Webb over Ivan Toney's controversial free-kick during their 3-2 defeat at Brentford on Saturday. Bees' striker Toney repositioned the ball's placement for the set piece which he scored from.
Referee Darren England did not spot the striker's move which sparked outrage at Forest. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo believed VAR should have intervened and disallowed Toney's goal.

And after news emerged that Forest had contacted the PGMOL over the incident, Sky Sports pundit Neville was highly critical. He also pointed out similar incidents where Liverpool and Arsenal contacted the refereeing body which he believes "started it."
"Clubs writing to the PGMOL is embarrassing!" He said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Liverpool and Arsenal started it and set the precedent of this nonsense."
The Manchester United legend went on to add: "The refs should be doing better and are under enormous pressure at the moment. It’s in the club's interests to work with them to make them improve.
"This public posturing is unnecessary. Speak to them and email them to gain clarification in private but they don’t have to “announce” they’ve written to the PGMOL. It’s not going to change the decision and it’s not going to help anyone! It just adds to the pile-on."
