Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Minecraft are once again clinging onto the top three spots of our latest gameplay chart of the most popular Xbox games, but there's a fair amount of reshuffling going on throughout the rest of the top 40. Dead Island 2 is almost out of the top ten — it's been in Game Pass for a few weeks now, but we could still see it revive itself in the future. Palworld has dropped out of the top ten (the lowest it's yet fallen) and comes to rest at 15th, but the game is still very early on in its Game Preview journey and has more content yet to come. Further down, NBA 2K24 is still at 17th, but the fact that it joins Game Pass today will likely boost it still higher.
Elden Ring has fallen one spot to 19th. The game saw a 78% spike in Xbox players after its announcement of the Shadow of the Erdtree release date and the reveal of a new trailer, and it's likely we'll see players flooding back as the DLC draws nearer. We then have a wave of games moving up the chart until we get to 31st, where Hell Let Loose has fallen from 25th, and Brotato, which has dropped from 30th to 32nd. Both were added to Game Pass earlier this year, and it might be that this drop is the usual result of players moving onto newer additions.
Then we have Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun making its first appearance in the top 40 at 33rd after it joined Game Pass last week, followed by the reappearance in the top 40 of For Honor at 35th, Diablo IV at 36th, Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) at 37th, and Smite at 40th. It's unclear what might have pushed Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) back into the top 40, unless a lot of you suddenly decided you really loved the game again, but it is interesting to see Diablo IV back at 36th. Diablo IV is coming up fast on our list of the upcoming Game Pass games and joins the service later this month, when we'll undoubtedly see it fly up the chart — Tom loved it in his Diablo 4 impressions, and it was met with high praise.
