Endrick scores but Kylian Mbappe fires blanks as Real Madrid beat Valladolid 3-0

Endrick scored while Kylian Mbappe failed to find the back of the net as Real Madrid defeated Real Valladolid 3-0 on Sunday, August 25. A second half blitz saw the defending champions secure the first win of their LaLiga campaign.

Endrick got his first goal for the Spanish champions Real Madrid as they secured a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid in La Liga on Sunday, August 25. Kylian Mbappé made his Santiago Bernabéu debut but he was unable to find the back of the net. Mbappé, playing at home for the first time in a Madrid shirt, faced a tough Valladolid defense that kept him largely frustrated throughout the match.

Fede Valverde broke the deadlock in the 50th minute with a low, deflected free-kick, and late goals from substitutes Brahim D­az and debutant Endrick sealed the win. In the first half, Madrid struggled to create clear chances but managed to step up their game after the break, earning their first win of the season following a draw against Real Mallorca. However, their attack still lacked fluidity, leaving Carlo Ancelotti's side two points behind Barcelona, who had defeated Athletic Bilbao the previous day.

Ancelotti was forced to start Arda G¼ler in place of the injured Jude Bellingham, who was sidelined for a month with a calf injury. Real Valladolid, the only team to keep a clean sheet in their opening game, focused on frustrating Madrid from the outset.

The visitors' best opportunity came from Darwin Mach­s, whose deflected shot narrowly missed, while Madrid dominated possession but struggled to break through in the sweltering summer heat of the Spanish capital. Madrid came out with more urgency in the second half, and Valverde’s deflected free-kick finally gave them the lead. They missed a chance to extend the lead when Rodrygo misplayed a pass with Vin­cius Jr. waiting to finish.

Mbappé had a golden opportunity to score his first La Liga goal after Vin­cius set him up, but Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein made a crucial save. Mbappé later missed another chance on a counter-attack before being substituted for 18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick.

Mbappé joined Madrid this summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, following years of speculation. He scored on his debut during Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup victory but is yet to open his account in La Liga after two matches, as Ancelotti continues to refine the team's attacking strategy.

Brahim D­az secured the win in the 88th minute with a clever lobbed finish, and in stoppage time, he assisted Endrick, who marked his debut with a goal at the near post.
