Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Italian forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus on a four-year deal. The 26-year-old winger, who also operates as a second striker, joins the Reds for a reported initial fee of 10 million euros, with an additional 2.5 million euros in performance-related add-ons tied to Liverpool’s success in the Premier League and Champions League.

Chiesa arrived in Merseyside on Wednesday afternoon to undergo his medical, marking the final steps of his transfer. The Italy international became the second signing under Liverpool’s head coach Arne Slot, following the recent acquisition of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, who will join the side in 2025. Chiesa’s arrival adds attacking depth and versatility to Liverpool’s frontline, and he will join the likes of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.

The move comes after Chiesa was deemed surplus to requirements by new Juventus manager Thiago Motta, who has been reshaping the squad since taking over. Motta made it clear that Chiesa, along with other high-profile players like former goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, would not be part of his plans, prompting Chiesa to seek opportunities elsewhere. Szczęsny subsequently had his contract terminated by Juventus and retired from professional football.

“I’m so happy to be a Liverpool player. When Richard Hughes called me and he said, ‘Do you want to join Liverpool?’ – and the coach called me – I said yes immediately because I know the history of this club, I know what it represents to the fans," Cheisa said on his move.

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Federico Chiesa, subject to international clearance," Liverpool's statement read.

Chiesa is set to don the number 14 jersey in Liverpool. Known for his pace, dribbling skills, and keen eye for goal, Chiesa’s versatility will offer Slot a new tactical option in both domestic and European competitions. Liverpool has not been very active in this transfer window, and have also faced a bitter end to their approaches in the market, specifically by Martn Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
