Eamonn Holmes' fans have thrown their support behind him after he admitted he could 'barely stand up'.

The dad-of-four, 64, who claimed he was "on borrowed time" following his split with estranged wife, Ruth Langsford, also 64, has been plagued with chronic health problems - including needing a double hip replacement - in recent years.

Taking to Instagram sharing a snap of himself, leaning against a door frame, sporting cream slacks and a navy sweater, he told fans his mobility is showing no signs of improvement as he shared a worrying caption, which read: "Hard to stand up, but next aim is to walk off to a birthday party today. What about you?"

Eamonn's fans flocked to support him following the post, with many congratulating him for how well he was doing. One said: "You're doing well Eamonn, keep it up xx." Another advised: "Keep moving Eamonn, as painful as it may be. Every little movement is of benefit." A third encouraged: "Come on Eamonn, we're all behind you" while another gushed: "Looking good."

The update comes after the GB News star was struggling with chronic back pain, which saw him require a high-tech wheelchair at the recent TRIC Awards. Eamonn told the Mirror he felt as if he was on “borrowed time”, as his father died at the age of 65 from a heart attack in 1991.

The former This Morning star admitted he had considered pulling out of the star-studded event as he had been in so much pain. However, his new high tech equipment allowed him to be more comfortable. “I wasn’t going to come, but I’ve got this new chair with all these gadgets,” he said as GB News Breakfast was named the Best News programme. Addressing the audience, Eamonn continued: “I had an operation a year and a half ago, and two things went wrong so I have two things in my back I don’t want. So I’ll happily accept this.”

The Belfast-born presenter conceded it was "not a good time at all" presently, while his co-host on the award-winning GB News morning programme, Isabel Webster, shared how associates and co-workers were extending their support, saying: "He's gone through an awful lot and we are all 100 percent behind him."

Eamonn has battled multiple heath issues over the past few years, before he and Ruth announced they were ending their marriage in May. The veteran TV host is reportedly leaning on several female friends in the wake of his split, which sent shockwaves through the showbiz industry.

According to Best magazine, the star would like to become friends with Ruth as he responded when asked about the status of their relationship: "It's too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends."
