Sam Durrant has extended his stay at Dundalk after making a strong impact following his late arrival last term.

Durrant, 21, joined the Lilywhites from Sheffield Wednesday in August and the winger made nine appearances for Stephen O'Donnell's side, scoring two goals.

“I’m delighted to be here for another year,” said Durrant, who was a youth player for Everton and Liverpool before starting his pro career with Blackburn Rovers.

“It’s a great opportunity for me and I want to have a big impact on the team and help us to push for trophies.

“I didn’t expect to settle in as quickly as I did and that probably allowed me to do well but I want to kick on even more next season and show the fans what I’m really about as a player.”

O'Donnell is pleased that Durrant is staying as the Dundalk boss builds for the 2024 season after finishing in fifth spot and out of the European places last term.

“Sam came here in mid-season and gave us a real spark and I’m really looking forward to working with him when he has a full pre-season under his belt," said O'Donnell.

“He’s a player that can excite fans, he takes players on and he is very good in one-against-one situations.

“We want to improve him and make him better and we believe he will really kick on next year.”
