‘United is still United’ – Insistence Manchester United can still charm player, history can be powerful tool
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessManchester United’s history could prove to be a major boost to them this summer if they push to sign Gleison Bremer from Juventus.
That’s at least according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say “Manchester United is still Manchester United” when it comes to weighing up the idea.
They explain that Juventus don’t want to be caught on their heels should Bremer leave this summer and have already drawn up a list of options to replace him.
They know there is a distinct possibility the Brazilian could be on his way as there is a gentleman’s agreement in pace with him that he can leave for €60m if such a bid is made.
They’re also aware that Bremer, like many players, would love to play in the Premier League and Manchester United have been targeting him ‘for some time’ as well.
Their failure to qualify for the Champions League had been seen as a major blow to a potential move for the defender and that is to be considered but ‘United are still United’. In other words, they are still a big club and have plenty of pulling power should they wish to use it.
Bremer can still resist, of course, with Juventus able to offer Champions League football and the Club World Cup, both of which can boost his profile and bring in other suitors next summer when his release clause activates.
Manchester United are absolutely not out of the race, though, with their history and standing in the game a factor that still lures players in, even if their performances this season do not.
