Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen's centre-back Jonathan Tah in January, according to Football Transfers, via nufcblog.co.uk. The German international is seen as a cost-effective way to strengthen the defence while adhering to Financial Fair Play rules.

The 27 year old has a £15.5m release clause in his contract that will be active again next summer. However, it's believed that the Bundesliga team would ask for a similar amount if Newcastle showed interest in January. The player is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League and has only 18 months left on his current contract.

Boulaye Dia

Reported Newcastle striker target Boulaye Dia has played his last game for Salernitana, according to sources in Italy. The Magpies have already been linked with a number of forward options in the January transfer window, with 27-year-old Dia one of several said to be on United's radar.

Dia has scored four Serie A goals this season and is currently recovering from injury in a bid to be involved in Senegal's African Cup of Nations bid. This has led to La Repubblica suggestting that due to interest from abroad, he has plaued his final game for Salernitana. He is thought to be valued at around £20m.
