Luka Doncic achieved a somewhat historic triple-double in the Dallas Mavericks‘ road win over the Toronto Raptors. The Slovenian star scored 30 points with 16 assists and 11 rebounds in a 125-136 victory in Canada, becoming the first player ever to record a 30-point triple-double on his 25th birthday.
Doncic also passed LeBron James for 3rd all-time in 30-point triple-doubles, despite the Raptors putting up a good fight. Austrian big man Jakob Poeltl scored 16 points with seven boards and six assists.
“Just a normal game, triple-double. He was really good. I guess 25 means he’s still going to be really good as he gets older here,” said Luka, with Dallas’ head coach Jason Kidd echoing the sentiment.
Nikola Jokic also didn’t miss a chance to record a triple-double and even did it in three quarters. The Serbian center led the Denver Nuggets to a 117-96 win over the Sacramento Kings with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.
It was the fourth consecutive triple-double for Joker and No. 19 overall this season, closing the gap to the leader Domantas Sabonis, who failed to record his 22nd. The Lithuanian center was three assists short, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
As for other European players, Nikola Vucevic grabbed a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds in a 132-123 OT win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Onuralp Bitim having a good role with 10 points and six boards for the winning side.
Rudy Gobert was flirting with a double-double in the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ 110-101 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, with eight points and rebounds, while Santi Aldama scored 11 points for the losing team.
In a clash between the LA Clippers and the LA Lakers, 2023 FIBA World Cup winner Daniel Thies had nine points and five rebounds. However, the story of the game was a big turnaround 112-116 win for the Lakers, with LeBron James turning back the clock.
The King had 19 points just in the final 12 minutes, while the entire Clippers team scored 16. He finished the game with 34 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, securing the largest 4th quarter comeback of his career at the age of 39.
