In its official recall warning on its website, the CCPC describes the danger posed by the socks in question.
"The risk presented by the product is injuries. The inside toe area of the sock is made with an uncut loop which can lead to tightness in the toe area for children resulting in ischemia or lacerations."
Ischemia is a condition in which blood flow (and oxygen) is restricted or reduced in a part of the body.
The sock brand is Pep & Co and the affected pairs are designed for use by babies aged 0-24 months. The barcodes are 5045736201708, 5045736201715, 5045736201722 and 5045736201739. The batch number is unknown.
The CCPC gives the following advice: "Customers should stop using the product immediately, keep it out of the reach of children and return it to any Dealz store for a full refund, no receipt is required.
"If customers have any further queries in relation to this recall, please contact the Dealz Customer Relations Line on 0818 930 843 or via email on customer.relations.dealz@dealz.eu."
