BBC sports commentator John Hunt's daughter Hannah was discovered alive with a "crossbow bolt in her chest" after being tied up, an inquest has heard.

The inquest at Hertfordshire Coroner's Court was informed that Hannah had sent a text to someone on July 10, saying she had been "tied up" at their family residence in Bushey.

In the message, she urged the recipient to contact the police and indicated that the perpetrator was still present at the house, according to a statement from a Coroner's officer during the brief hearing. Following this, Ms Hunt managed to call the authorities herself, reporting that she, her mother, and sister had been shot, providing her address before the line went dead.

Upon arrival, the police found her at the main entrance of the house, a crossbow bolt lodged in her chest, Senior Coroner for Hertfordshire Geoffrey Sullivan was informed.

Mr Hunt and his surviving daughter Amy expressed their immense grief, saying: "The devastation that we are experiencing cannot be put into words."

Speaking of Amy, Mr Hunt stated: "Notwithstanding the horrid evil that's swept through our lives, wreaking devastation on an unimaginable scale, the counter to that has been the breath-taking messages of support, some of which are still to be read."

"Amy, my eldest daughter, has been magnificently inspirational with her control and support for me, which I am trying, trying so hard, to replicate. Every message has felt so important, the same as a reassuring hug. We know people are worried about us. We will get through this."
