A family have paid tribute to a "beautiful" mum and daughter after they tragically died in a three-vehicle crash on Boxing Day.

Linda Philips, 72, and Amanda Riley, 49, were killed in the devastating smash involving a quad bike, BMW and MGZS at a junction in Shard End in Birmingham. Four other people, including a baby, were injured during the tragedy. Their injuries were non-life threatening

West Midlands Police confirmed two men were arrested following the incident. One of those in custody was de-arrested while he recovered from his injuries. The other was released with no further action.

The family of Mrs Philips and Ms Riley issued an emotional tribute with a joint statement, reports Birmingham Live. It read: "Linda and Amanda, mother and daughter, were cruelly taken from us on Boxing Day on December 26, 2023. Linda was a beautiful and dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and so much more.

Amanda's parents, daughters, and grandchildren loved her so much and she was the apple of her grandchildren's eye."

A West Midlands Police spokesperson previously said: " The driver of the BMW left the scene but a short time later a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in hospital and will be spoken to when deemed medically fit to be questioned.
