'Back to business': Ayr's bus service returns to normal as major road reopens

Stagecoach has rerouted buses back to their original stop offs after Station Bridge Road reopened

Ayr's bus service has returned to normal today after a major route into the town reopened.

Stagecoach has reinstated services running back into the town via Station Bridge Road - after all four lanes were registered back in action earlier today.

The key gateway to the town was cut off for months after a fire at the Station Hotel wreaked havoc at the top end of the town.

Burns Statue Square was virtually cut off, with buses forced to divert elsewhere.

But now Stagecoach are starting to run buses back into the area cut adrift due to ongoing safety works at the iconic B-Listed building.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach said: "Stagecoach has announced that services which were previously diverted due to the road closures at Station Bridge, Ayr will resume their normal routes from today.

"Services that had been diverted included the 3, 7, 42/X42/42A, 52, 301, 302, 347, and 361.

"Service 1 between Masonhill and Hayhill will continue to follow the diversion until Thursday, December 21.

"Stagecoach is working quickly to update information on its live journey planner to reflect the diversion now ending and would like to thank their customers for their patience."
