Tesla, SpaceX directors took drugs with Elon Musk to avoid 'upsetting' him: Report

Elon Musk's current and former Tesla and SpaceX directors have allegedly engaged in drug use, including ecstasy and LSD, with the billionaire.

Current and former directors of Tesla and SpaceX companies owned by billionaire Elon Musk used drugs, including ecstasy and LSD, with him on multiple occasions, a report by the Wall Street Journal claimed. Some of the directors joined Musk in drug use as they did not want to upset him.

According to the report, there is a perceived "expectation" for the directors to use drugs with Musk, and they either participate in or enable his substance use to maintain proximity to the billionaire.

“Several current or former directors at Tesla and SpaceX attend parties with him, go on exotic vacations and hang out at Burning Man, the Nevada arts and music festival,” the report notes.

Citing witnesses, The Journal reported that Elon Musk has been observed using recreational ketamine via a nasal spray and consuming liquid ecstasy from a water bottle. At a recent party, other directors, namely Gracias, Jurvetson, and Kimbal Musk, were reported to have indulged in drug consumption with him.

The report also underlines that the directors have deep personal and financial ties to the billionaire entrepreneur, and have profited enormously from the relationship.

Though some current and former directors at Tesla and SpaceX, who do not join Musk in parties, are aware of Musk’s illicit drug use, they have refrained from taking public action. The report highlights that despite concerns among some board members about the negative impact of Musk’s behaviour, no public steps have been taken to address the issue.

“In the culture Musk has created around him, some friends, including directors, feel there is an expectation to consume drugs with him because they think refraining could upset the billionaire, who has made them a lot of money, some of the people said,” the WSJ report further adds.

However, despite these concerns, the Tesla board has not investigated Musk’s drug use nor documented the directors’ statements in the official board minutes.
