Search stood down for missing man as body found in Dublin

Patrick Mulligan was missing from his home in Ballyboden since Sunday

The search for a missing 64-year-old man has been stood down following the discovery of a body on Tuesday.

Patrick Mulligan had been missing from his home in Ballyboden, Dublin 16 since Sunday. Gardaí were concerned for Patrick’s welfare and had appealed to the public for help in tracing the missing man.

Following the discovery of the body of a male in the Rathfarnham area on Tuesday, the search has been stood down.

A spokesperson for gardaí told The Irish Mirror: "Following the discovery of a body of a male in the Rathfarnham area, the missing person appeal in respect of 64-year-old Patrick Mulligan, who was missing from Ballyboden, Dublin 16 has now been stood down."

They added: "An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance."
