Tributes paid to 'wonderful' 22-year-old who died in Cork car crash

Billy Ring was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred just outside his home village of Carrignavar, north of Cork city, around 6:45am. He was the only occupant of the car.
He has been described as a “wonderful and talented young man” in an outpouring of tributes following his tragic death.
Mr Ring worked for Eli Lilly in Kinsale, and previously worked for the ESB. One former colleague said he was “an absolute credit to his family”.

“A true gent,” another person added. “A man that will leave a lasting effect on many of us. A huge loss as a friend and as a colleague in the workshop. It won’t be the same without you!”
One mourner who had known Mr Ring from the Scouts described him as “a great friend” who was always ready to help, with “a story to tell and a smile on his face”.
“He loved his family and friends so much, he will be so sadly missed by many people,” they added.
“RIP Billy,” commented another friend. “You were a great lad to work alongside the last year and held in high regard by all of us in the workshop.
“Very kind and helpful lad with a great sense of humour. You’ll be sorely missed by everyone. Great colleague and friend to all.”
An Garda Síochána are currently investigating the crash and have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
“Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 6:45am on Wednesday, November 29 at Gortnalahee, Carrignavar, Co Cork,” said a spokesperson.
“The driver and sole occupant of the only car involved in this collision, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.”
Mr Ring is survived by his parents, Liam and Mary, and his siblings, Angie, Leo and Susanna, as well as his grandmother Angela, and extended family.
