REVIEW – I reviewed my first scooter this year, and I’ve had fun riding it up and down my road. I thought it would be a fun way to ride to the mailbox every day since it’s about a quarter of a mile from my front door. The only problem is that I sometimes get packages and too much mail to hold onto along with the handlebars. But then I was offered the Gyroor C1 electric scooter with a seat and a basket. Now we’re talking! Let’s take it for a scoot!

What’s in the box?

When the Gyroor C1 scooter arrived, I was confused because the large box had a monitor on it instead of a scooter. I thought there had been a mistake, but it was just a weird decision on Gyroor’s part to have those graphics because what was inside the box was…

… the partially assembled Gyroor C1 electric scooter. Plastic zip ties and foam protected various parts.

With the zip ties and foam removed, I laid out the parts and grabbed the instructions.

Included in the box is a set of essential tools that are needed to assemble the scooter.

Some assembly required

Most of the scooter comes pre-assembled, but a few things need to be done before you can start scooting. The first step is to attach the handlebar assembly to the scooter. It’s easy to do since you just need to line up the arrows, tighten a screw, and fold the lock in place.

Note that you can unlock the frame to fold down the handlebars if you ever need to transport the scooter in your car or store it somewhere.

The next step is to attach the handlebars which are already attached to the main frame by the electrical cables. Like the main part of the frame, a folding lock is used to hold the bars in place.

At this point, we’re almost done!

All that’s left is to put on the padded seat, adjust it to your height, lock it in place, and attach the basket to the back.

The basket isn’t very large, but it’s useful for carrying small items to and from the mailbox or to and from a store.

It took me about 30 minutes to unbox and fully assemble the Gyroor C1 electric scooter. Now to check out the features.

It has a front headlight and a nice wide non-slip deck for your feet.

The handlebars have rubber grips, two brakes, a mechanical bell (check out the video below to see what it sounds like – spoiler – it’s lame), and the LCD display.

The display is nice and bright, making reading the speed, odometer, and battery status easy. Below the display is a large power button.

The tires are not solid rubber and have to be aired up. However, they are large and provide some shock absorption even though the scooter does not have built-in shocks.

There’s a kickstand that is easy to extend and retract.

And there’s a nice wide brake light on the back glows bright red when you squeeze the brakes on the handlebars.

Riding the Gyroor C1 electric scooter didn’t require any learning curve like the first regular scooter I reviewed earlier this year. If you can ride a bike, you can ride this scooter.

Unlike other scooters that require you to push off with your foot until you reach a certain speed, the Gyroor C1 takes off as soon as you press the power button and rotate the accelerator on the right handlebar grip.

The brakes are also responsive since this scooter has front and rear disc brakes.

I am 5’6″ and 130 lbs. I found that this scooter did fine on flat roads but struggled a little getting up and over the hump out of my driveway. Gentle rises weren’t a problem though.

Final thoughts

I have really enjoyed riding the Gyroor C1 electric scooter. I like that it has a seat and a basket. It makes it easier to ride than a regular standing scooter. I like that it does have some folding capability for storage and transport in a car or SUV. I’m still on the first charge of the battery, so I feel like it has good battery life. If you’ve considered buying an electric vehicle but didn’t want a regular standing scooter or a larger eBike, a scooter like the Gyroor C1 could be a good choice. So far, I like it quite a bit.
