Garmin rolls out new features and improvements to recent smartwatches
by Alex Alderson · NotebookcheckThe Venu 3 and Venu 3s have started receiving a new update on Garmin's Beta Program. While the company's many other smartwatches regularly see new beta updates, the same is not the case for the Venu 3 series. Instead, the pair have been left running Beta 8.25 since mid-November 2023, unlike the Fenix 6 and Fenix 7 series.
Now, Garmin has brought forth Beta 9.15, a regular beta update rather than a Release Candidate (RC). Thus, it is unclear when the company will offer a new stable update. For reference, Garmin included the Venu 3 and Venu 3s in its December 2023 stable update rollout, details of which we have covered separately. As for Beta 9.15, Garmin claims to have addressed three outstanding bugs and added two new features, which are as follows:
- Added jump rope activity
- Added support for male audio prompts (requires a download of new audio files)
- Fixed an issue where music will randomly start playing
- Fixed an issue where higher rate of battery drain could occur with wrist heart rate turned off
- Fixed an issue where changing a setting during a golf activity could cause scoring to be turned off
Additionally, the update arrives with new Male Audio Prompts, which are now on v1.67. According to Garmin, Beta 9.15 can be downloaded from a Venu 3 or Venu 3s itself by heading to the Main menu, Settings, System and finally to Software Update. Please see the company's forum post for more details.
