Mojang has updated the Minecraft preview build for Xbox Insiders, adding support for 4K resolution on Xbox Series X|S, Wolf Armor, Armadillos, and more. We don't know when the update will roll out to all players, but it's exciting to know that it's coming.

Although Microsoft recently dismissed rumors that an Xbox Series X|S version of Minecraft is on the way, Xbox Insiders enrolled in the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Preview and Beta can now begin testing 4K on Xbox Series X|S. It looks like 4K support will arrive as an update instead of a full new version. The feature is included in the game's 1.20.60.23 update, which includes a host of changes to the Minecraft experience, including bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and more.

One of the newest features coming to Minecraft is the new neutral Armadillo mob, which acts in the same way as cows, sheep, pigs, and the like. You'll find this new scaly critter enjoying the sun-kissed savanna biome, working on its tan and enjoying a diet of spider eyes... yum!

Armadillos are naturally timid creatures, and if they feel threatened by sprinting players, mounted or vehicle-driving players, or undead mobs, they will roll up into a ball to protect themselves with their armored shells. They will unroll again if threats aren't detected for three seconds, and patient players will get an opportunity to collect a new Scute resource from them, either by brushing them or waiting for them to shed.

Scutes can then be used to craft Wolf Armor for tamed Wolves, offering your canine companion the same level of protection as Diamond Horse Armor. If your Wolf happens to meet an unfortunate demise on your travels, don't worry; it will drop its armor so you can reuse it on your next furry friend.

You can check out the full patch notes on the Minecraft website if you'd like a glimpse of the content coming to all Minecraft players in the future. We'll let you know when Mojang plans to roll it out to everyone.

If you're yet to check out the block-building fun of Minecraft, it's available in the Xbox Game Pass library, and we think it's one of the best games on Game Pass!
