Players working through the Starfield achievements should see some changes in the Creation Club, as Bethesda is rolling out a new Starfield update for certain Xbox mods. Player-created content was added to the Xbox RPG last month, but some players were far from happy, leading to Starfield being review-bombed on Steam.

Bethesda drops Creation Club update for Starfield

As shared by Bethesda on X, the latest Starfield hotfix should make using the Creation Club a little better when downloading mods on Xbox. After downloading the update, you shouldn't have issues when loading a save after removing some Creations anymore, the Microsoft Store should now function correctly when Starfield is in Quick Resume, and the Creation Club buttons should now display correctly when viewing it in Large Font Mode.

Interestingly, Bethesda has also stopped users from uploading mods using altered ini files — a configuration file that customizes in-game settings — due to the "negative effects" players have been experiencing, but it sounds like it might be a temporary block while the team finds a solution.

"With today's update to the #Starfield CK, we are also removing the ability to upload Creations with altered ini files, since some altered ini files are resulting in more negative effects than the benefits for allowing this functionality, such as audio corruption on the Xbox," Bethesda says. "Removing this functionality will bring Creations in line with how they work on Skyrim. We are investigating ways to address active Starfield Creations from creators that alter ini files. We thank you all for your patience and continued feedback."

Bethesda's Todd Howard recently commented on the controversy surrounding Starfield's paid mods, suggesting that the team is going "to take a look" at how it supports paid content in the future.
