At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, Honor dropped the curtains off its futuristic Magic 6 Pro smartphone with some interesting AI features. What's the buzz here? Well, imagine a phone that can track your eyes! Yeah, that's right. This futuristic feature basically lets you open apps and control certain functions of apps by just looking at them without you lifting a finger.
Honor Magic 6 Pro debuts with AI-based eye-tracking feature!
The eye-tracking feature sounds super cool, but how effective will it be in real life? Well, we couldn't test the feature at MWC 2024 because it is yet to be released to the international market version and an update for the same is expected to arrive in the near future. At the event, Honor showed the eye tracking feature in action (in a demo video) and I had my doubts about how fast it works and whether this will work seamlessly with apps. Also, how much useful will it be in our daily life? Maybe, if your hands are not clean in the kitchen and you need to do something on the phone and by just looking at the phone, you will be able to control an app. Wow, that sounds great.
Honor explained how this feature works. In a demo video, they showed how if you have four options in an app, you just need to look at one of them and keep your eyes focused on it for a few seconds. Using AI, the device tracks your eye movements and figures out what you want to do, then does it for you. Though, the video itself suggested that the tech might not be too fast. But, let's not pass a verdict here without testing it.
The feature is also said to have the capability to check when you are looking at notifications on iPhone 15 like-Dynamic Island interface on the top of the screen and open your desired app without touching the phone.
Another interesting feature that Honor Magic 6 Pro is how it can smartly detect some of the things from notifications. It can spot important details in your messages, like events or addresses, and then even link them to your maps or calendar app, saving you time and hassle. Also, Honor is working on a feature to that turns your photos into videos, just by typing a few words. How awesome is that? But, this is yet to be released in the real world and Honor showcased this development at the event.
Honor Magic 6 Pro: Gigantic weird design? Solid specs?
The Honor Magic 6 Pro doesn't have an extraordinary design but still looks good enough. There is a giant camera module at the back, including four big cutouts for camera sensors. The textured leather finish back panel offered a good grip on the phone, but it has a slightly thick form factor. People who have been accustomed to phones that have a slim profile might have a bit of an issue with the thick body. Also, slapping a case at the back would likely add more weight to the device.
Nevertheless, the internal hardware looks solid on paper. It has an attractive 6.78-inch LTPO OLED screen with support for 120Hz refresh rate, and the device is also IP68 rated. The vibrant colours look good to the eyes and the display is visible enough outdoors. Under the hood, you will find the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a massive 5,600mAh battery with support for 80W fast charge. The back camera system has a 108-megapixel sensor with support for 100X digital zoom, two 50-megapixel cameras for wide and ultra-angle shots in addition to a telephoto sensor.
Honor Magic 6 Pro: Is it coming to India?
Now, the big question on everyone's mind: when can we get our hands on the Magic 6 Pro, especially in India? Well, HONOR hasn't spilled the beans yet, but we're keeping our ears to the ground for any updates. We do know that it is not coming anytime soon or it might not come at all. But, you never know the company might decide to bring it to India in future or its next version could be launched with similar AI features. Nothing is confirmed yet. You can stay tuned to India Today for all the updates.
