Leak suggests Redmi Watch 4 global edition could launch soon
Budget smartwatch promises big design upgrade
by Conor Allison · WareableThe global edition of the Redmi Watch 4 could be close to an official launch, with the budget smartwatch sneaking under the radar in a recent Bluetooth SIG filing.
The Xiaomi sub-brand debuted the watch in China back in November, and the filing from 8 December indicates that attention has now turned to the annual rollout in more territories.
Last year, we saw the global model of the Redmi Watch 3 arrive in March, but the timing of this uncovered Bluetooth certification perhaps indicates that the company's latest model will arrive sooner in 2024.
When it does, we expect it to feature all of the same features available on the edition released in China; the most notable of which is the all-new aluminum case and stainless steel crown.
Previously, Redmi's smartwatches have all featured plastic cases, so this would appear to be a big jump in the build quality of the device.

Elsewhere, the always-on AMOLED display introduced in last year's model is also getting an update, with Redmi bumping the size to 1.97 inches (from 1.75 inches).
And the upgrades don't end there. Battery life - at least on paper - is set for a considerable jump, with the Redmi Watch 4's 470 mAh unit promising around 20 days of battery life in typical usage. That's up from roughly 12 days with the Watch 3.
The only thing we don't know, of course, is the price.
Though the Redmi Watch 4's price in China would suggest the US/UK conversion would be around $70 / £55, it's not unusual for this to jump slightly upon release.
Stay tuned for more on this one as we get it - an official announcement could be coming soon.
