Dad, 29, caught with extreme porn and child abuse snaps walks free from court

Lorry driver Alex Baker has been handed a community order for his crimes

A dad-of-three who was caught with sick sex abuse images has walked free from court. Long-distance lorry driver Alex Baker spent more than four years scouring the internet for vile content of youngsters being abused.

Some of the children were as young as eight. The 29-year-old was even found with horrendous pornography featuring an animal.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard how police executed a warrant at Baker's home in July 2022 after evidence suggested he had been viewing child sex abuse images online. He was at home with his partner and three children when officers searched the property, prosecutor Chris O'Gorman said.

Baker - of Davy Road, Walsall - gave police the pin code to his mobile, with an extreme video involving a pig later uncovered. A total of 193 indecent images and videos of children aged between eight and 17 were found on Baker's devices.

He had downloaded them over four years and nine months, Mr O'Gorman said. The prosecutor added: "Baker used search terms that were clearly intended to obtain images of children and extreme pornography."

Helen Dawson, defending, said Baker is the 'main breadwinner' of his family and also helps care for his wife. He was on police bail for two years and was only charged at the beginning of 2024.

The sex offender made 'full and frank admissions' to officers before he was charged with offences, Ms Dawson said. Sentencing, Judge Michael Chambers KC said Baker had 'shown remorse' and 'cooperated' with police.

He added: "Was it not for persons such as yourself viewing these images, evil people out there would not abuse children to create these images and produce the videos of sexual abuse and that is why it is so serious." Baker - who had no previous convictions - admitted three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possession of an extreme pornographic image.

The defendant was handed a two-year community order, with a 55-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a five-year sexual harm prevention order. He must sign the sex offenders register for five years and pay £150 costs.
