by Annabal Bagdi, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/annabal-bagdi/, Ryan Fahey · Birmingham LiveWeather maps turn bright purple and orange as snow to sweep Britain this weekend. Brits should get ready for a wet weekend with snow and rain set to hit large parts of the country.
The maps show big snowfalls in places in Scotland like Inverness and Glasgow, which could see as much as 3cm of snow by Saturday evening at around 9pm. The cold spell should be over by the end of Monday when the snow is expected to clear.

While northern areas are hit with snow, other parts of the UK will have heavy rain after what has already been a week full of heavy showers and flooding. In some places, including Liverpool and Newcastle, rain levels could reach up to 5mm per hour. Manchester and Yorkshire will see up to 3mm of rainfall.
However, some cities and regions will avoid the worst of it, including London. The West Midlands will see a much more manageable 1mm, reports the Mirror.
According to the Met Office, the rain will start to clear from Sunday, with more showers expected throughout the day. While parts of the UK have had mild temperatures this week, the weekend is expected to bring lower temperatures of around 13C in London, reports The Express.
The UK is expecting a high of about 15C this Sunday but it'll be a bit cloudy. Jo Farrow, a Netweather weather expert, said that "the occlusion from the second low will pull southwards on Friday, away from Ireland and slowly down Britain."
"This allows colder air to flow down from the north ready for a clear Friday night. Next, a large Atlantic low pressure begins to edge towards the UK at the weekend. This will bring more widespread rain, heading northeastwards through Saturday along with milder air. It clears to a cooler Sunday with bright spells but plenty of showers from the west."
Right now, the Met Office has given 22 flood warnings for different parts of the country, which means there's a good chance of flooding. There are also 115 areas where flooding could happen.
As per their weekend forecast, it looks like Saturday will be cooler, and frost could form in the North.
Tuesday 19 Mar - Thursday 28 Mar.
The weather is set to stay changeable but generally mild, with the heaviest rain expected in the west, especially the northwest. The south and southeast can look forward to longer dry spells.
Winds will be light to moderate in the south and east, while stronger winds may affect the northwest at times. As we move into next week, temperatures are likely to drop closer to average across the UK.
There's a small chance of colder conditions developing, most likely in the north.
From Friday 29 Mar to Friday 12 Apr, pressure is expected to be higher than average to the north of the UK. This means unsettled weather is more likely in the south, with the most rainfall expected there.
On the other hand, northern areas should be drier than usual. Temperatures will probably be near or slightly above average overall, with any cooler periods most likely in the north.
