A woman was left in the road after being hit by a car that didn't stop.

Merseyside Police were called to Eccleston Street in Prescot at around 2.55pm on Thursday, January 4, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a woman had been hit by a car, that did not stop at the scene.

The woman suffered slight injuries and did not require hospital treatment. Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, or people with dashcam and CCTV footage.

A spokesperson said: "We received a report at around 2.55pm today, Thursday 4 January, of a fail to stop road collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Eccleston Street, in Prescot. The woman sustained slight injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

"If you witnessed this incident or have any information, call 101 or DM @MerPolCC on X (Twitter) quoting log 533 of 4th January."
