APC makes U-turn after Kano business mogul Abdulsamad, others rejects membership of standing committees
by Adamu Abuh, Abuja · The GuardianThe ruling All progressives Congress (APC) yesterday announced the indefinite postponement of the inauguration of its standing committees billed to take place tomorrow.
The decision followed the decision by Kano based business mogul, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu to turn down his appointment as a member of the finance committee on the basis that he was not consulted before he was named as a member of the committee.
APC’s National Publicity secretary, Mr Felix Morka made this know at a press conference in Abuja at the end of its weekly national working committee (NWC) meeting held at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
He however declined to specify the reason for the sudden postponment of the inauguration of the standing committees.
Said he: “There is no need for that discussion. This is an activity of the party. That the party following discussion today, of the NWC has decided to postponed for any number of reasons which is quite frankly unnecessary.
” This announcement is directed to those who were appointed so that they know that they don’t need to travel to Abuja for an event which will not hold as previously planned. I think that is all that is important.”, he said.
The party also condemned the attempt on the life of the Kogi state resident electoral commissioner, Dr Gabriel Longpet by unknown gunmen.
Expressing concern over the ugly incidence, the party charged security agencies to ensure that those who indulge in the act are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
The party also stated that it had concluded arrangements to kick start the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms to prospective aspirants for the conduct of the Edo and Ondo state governorship primaries next year
Morka further disclosed the ratification of the appointments of executive officers to fill vacant seats in Niger, Nasarawa, Lagos and Delta states chapters of the party..
The officials comprises. Peter Akarogbe – Secretary, Delta State, Adeola Jokomba – Secretay, Lagos State, Aminu Musa Bobi – Chairman, Niger State, Aliyi Bello – Chairman, Nasarawa State, Yainus Dangusa – Secretary, Nasarawa State.
