A star of BBC's The Traitors admitted to punching and kicking restaurant staff in an unprovoked attack.

John McManus, 51, appeared on the first series of the Claudia Winkleman fronted show in 2022 and lasted five episodes before being 'murdered'. CCTV footage has shown the moment McManus saw red at a posh seafood and champagne restaurant, in which he attacked a 62-year-old waiter before launching into waitress in a second unprovoked attack.

McManus was drinking wine with a friend when staff at The Ship On The Shore in Leith on May 7, 2023, asked The Traitors star to keep the noise down. CCTV footage obtained by The Sun shows McManus getting physical with a waiter before being dragged away. Seconds later, McManus launches a second attack, this time on a waitress, in which he is seen grabbing the woman's hair and dragging her to the floor.

Spa therapist and actor McManus admitted assaulting the restaurant workers during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on December 15, pleading guilty to two charges of assault on the opening day of the trial, after having previously denied the attacks during his first court appearance in June.

McManus was ordered to pay the waitress £600 in compensation and was fined £470 for the attacks.

Following his appearance on The Traitors last year. McManus hit out at BBC bosses as he accused them of editing his scenes to portray him as a villain. he said: "Look at Nasty Nick on Big Brother, there’s always got to be somebody”.
As well as reality show The Traitors McManus has also had small roles in EastEnders, Taggart and Taboo.
