UK weather: Maps show exact date 32C heatwave will end before two days of storm chaos

The short-lived period of hot weather will come to an end with a bang, with thunderstorm warnings issued for the south east on August 1 and the south west and Wales on August 3

After a sluggish start to the summer, Brits are set for a scorching week ahead with temperatures expected to soar.

The Met Office has predicted that on Tuesday, London could see temperatures rise to a sweltering 32C. Other parts of the UK, including Wales and the West Country, are also set to bask in the heat with highs of 27C. Monday won't be far behind with the south-east expected to reach a sizzling 29C. The north-west, Midlands and western areas will also enjoy balmy conditions with temperatures around 26C.

Scotland and Northern Ireland can expect slightly cooler weather with temperatures just over 20C. However, the hot spell is set to be interrupted by fierce storms, according to Netweather forecasters, reports the Express. Netweather has warned that August 1 will see heavy rain lashing the country.

Western areas, Wales and the Midlands are expected to face the worst of the adverse weather. Eastern regions may avoid the brunt of the conditions. Meanwhile, WX Charts predicts that southern England will also experience rainfall on August 3, although it's not expected to be as intense as on August 1.

Most areas will remain dry overnight with clear spells, though cloud and some outbreaks of rain and stronger winds are expected across the Outer Hebrides towards dawn. Isolated fog patches may appear in the west.

Monday:

The south and east will enjoy another sunny day, with temperatures feeling very warm. However, Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England will see hazier sunshine as cloud and patchy light rain moves into the northwest.

The north can expect breezy and rather cloudy conditions with a few showers. The south will start off with hazy sunny spells, remaining very warm and humid; then possibly turning thundery from Wednesday.
