Department of Defence denies Taylor Swift is 'Pentagon asset' amid wild conspiracy theory
The Department of Defence has addressed wild right-wing conspiracy theories claiming the government is working with Taylor Swift to sway the results in the upcoming Presidential election
by Caroline Gaspich · The MirrorA spokesperson for the Department of Defence has shut down wild right-wing conspiracy theories claiming the government is working with Taylor Swift to endorse President Joe Biden's in the upcoming election.
According to conspiracy theories circulating online, the pop singer's soaring popularity and involvement in the NFL now are all part of a left-wing plot to sabotage Donald Trump’s chances of winning the election in November. But Trump is reportedly not concerned as the former President claims he is "more popular" than the pop singer anyway.
Wild theories that Taylor has been in cahoots with the Pentagon have been circulating ever since Time Magazine named her 2023's Person of the Year and have grown as some claim her relationship with Travis Kelce is part of a Democratic Party-led plan to fuel Biden’s campaign. As the Super Bowl is tonight famous podcaster Mike Crispi spread the idea that Taylor will take the field during the Super Bowl halftime show to endorse Biden.

Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also fuelled the rumours as he previously stated: "I wonder who's going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there's a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall."
Fox News hosts fuelled the rumours as well as Jesse Watters said on-air in January: "I mean I like her music, she's all right. But I mean, have you ever wondered why or how she blew up like this?" And added: "Around four years ago, the Pentagon’s psychological operations unit floated turning Taylor Swift into an asset."
But the Department of Defense Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh rejected these theories this week as she told Forbes: "Taylor Swift is not part of a DOD psychological operation. Period.”
The conspiracy theories come as Taylor previously backed Biden in the 2018 election and publicly endorsed Democrats during the midterm elections in Tennessee. Politicians claim that the singer has an incredible pull the election as she was previously credited for registering 35,000 new voters in a single day after sharing an Instagram post encouraging her millions of Instagram voters to vote.
In October of 2020, the singer publicly confirmed that she voted for Biden in the election. At the time she told V Magazine: “The change we need most is to elect a president who recognises that people of colour deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included."
